"Benson" finished very quickly as a puppy with Group 1sts and numerous other group placements as well as Best Puppy in Groups.
Benson, who is more often called "Boo" than Benson, came to live with Lorette at 8 months of age and she completed all of his training, conditioning and handling. They took a 3 year break and did some agility training but after their history creating achievements in the conformation ring, decided to come back and have some fun this time around!
Lorette and Benson began making breed history in June 2006 when they went out and won their first Best in Show - at the time Benson was only the second Havanese in Canada to achieve this honour. Even more of an honour was the first to be owner handled to the win! Thank you Mr. Rick Glendinning!
On August 5, 2007, Benson created breed history for the 2nd time, he and Lorette attended the Canadian National Specialty in Calgary, Alberta and came home with Best in National Specialty Show win! Thank you to Mr. Fernandez-Renau (Spain) for this very exciting and most prestigious win!
Right after the National, Lorette took him and had all his health testing while in Calgary. Results are posted. Afterwards, Benson and Lorette took a break from the show ring, relaxed for a little while and then went and played in agility. Benson loved it but like any true show dog he missed the attention received in the show ring, so Lorette agreed that it was time to go back.
On May 7, 2011, Boo's first out-of-retirement show day, Mr. Thomas Alexander also added his name to this history making black and white boy by awarding him his second Best in Show win!
This is one boy who will never be forgotten by so many.
